Ryomei Engineering (the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries branch), co-operated with two Hiroshima-area companies engineering, developed the robot who resembled the koi fish.

This robot was shown in the pond Hiroshima Machinery Works. This robot was made resemble the koi fish Nishiki as the form of the sign of respect to Hiroshima Castle. Nickname from Hiroshima Castle was RI-Jo or normally was known with Koi Castle. This robot had long 80 cm (along 31 inch) and had heavy 12 kg (as big as 26 pound) and was controlled by control remote.



This koi robot had the coloured body white and with the motive of the coloured spot red clear.

Although tail movements were very smooth and appeared really lived, but this koi fish robot could not resemble the movement of the fish koi that was original as swimming turn around and proceeded in his place. This robot was the fifth robot who was launched by Ryomei Engineering that covered the fish bream sea, prehistory coelacanth, and the golden tambera fish.

The new Fitur, that was added to robotic koi was the CCD camera that was built in the koi head and the censor which was used to analyse the Quality of water.
